Gillian

Press
Officer
Gillian
started playing cornet when she was 11 with the Glossop School
Band and on leaving school joined Hollingworth Band. She then
moved to Lindley before joining Glossop Band in 1998 where she
played 2nd Cornet for 6 years. While she was at Glossop, Gillian
formed Girls of Brass with Claire Shepherd and Tracey Redfern.
The band only did a few concerts and a CD but were very successful
in raising a lot of money for Breast Cancer research.
Gillian
gave up playing last year when she moved to Liverpool to concentrate
on her job as a director for one of Littlewoods Home Shopping
e-commerce sites and had a break from banding, but she decided
to buy a second house in Glossop to renovate and in consequence
she moved back. Gillian is now commuting to Liverpool each
day which must be a hard task!
Gillian
became involved with Faireys 3 years ago when she was asked
to help out with some contest arrangements and her role with
the band has grown from there into a PR focused one with lots
of other bits and pieces thrown in!
In
between work, Faireys and renovating houses Gillian likes
to spend time with her Goddaughter Charley who's nearly 3,
going out with her friends drinking champagne and watching
James Bond films!!!
